feral trade sea lettuce |
A bright green semi-translucent seaweed Ulva Lactuca, hand harvested by a 5 year old (2014) during extreme low spring tides along the North Tyneside coastline of Whitley Bay and Cullercoats Bay. The early fronds of the Sea Lettuce are picked from above its anchorage in rock pools and semi-exposed areas, during long dry periods for the highest standard of water quality, then washed well in cold water and sun dried until crispy.
Once opened store in a cool dark place away from any sources of humidity. Shelf life for maximum freshness 1 year.
ferally traded since: 19/10/14.

REMARKS: | While feather light, sea lettuce failed to hitch a ride first with Newcastle residents hoping to pass Bristol on a leisure trip to Cornwall (rental car deal fell through) & subsequently with Bristol based qujunktions heading past Newcastle enroute to a wedding in Alnwick (logistical issues). Luckily good shelf life allowed package to wait for a better connection. |

kate rich After 2 previous feral delivery attempts involving others spectacularly failed, trader travelled to Whitley Bay herself to fetch the sea lettuce, and drop off a consignment of coffee & other goods. Sea lettuce was packed in shoebox for the train journey to Sheffield where it stopped over a few days at Access Space.
